AWC Versatility Award

The American Whippet Club is the national breed club for Whippets within the American Kennel Club. The AWC promotes responsible breeding, training and competition for showing, lure coursing, racing, obedience and the overall versatility of the Whippet. To promote the versatility of the breed, the AWC rewards its member’s whippets with the Award of Versatility when certain criteria have been met.

AV REQUIREMENTS

* The CAV will be awarded to AKC Conformation Champions who have completed the AV requirements.

AVX REQUIREMENTS

* The CAVX will be awarded to AKC Conformation Champions who have completed the AVX requirements.

AVXX REQUIREMENTS

* The CAVXX will be awarded to AKC Conformation Champions who have completed the AVXX requirements.

1.

A minimum of 10 points must be earned

A minimum of 15 points must be earned

A minimum of 20 points must be earned

2.

A minimum of three points must be earned from Obedience (H.)

A minimum of three points must be earned from Obedience (H.)

A minimum of three points must be earned from Obedience (H.)

3.

1 point must come from                       Coursing (D.) OR Racing (J.)

3 points must come from Coursing (D.) OR Racing (J.)

4 points must come from Coursing (D.) OR Racing (J.)

4.

Points must come from at least         three (3) groups                               (excluding Miscellaneous and Rally)

Points must come from at least four (4) groups (excluding Miscellaneous and Rally)

Points must come from at least         five (5) groups                               (excluding Miscellaneous and Rally)

5.

You may only use ONE achievement in each category (except Miscellaneous)

A maximum of 2 points may come from Miscellaneous (L.)

A maximum of 5 points may come from a related sports. (Rally and Obedience are related sports)

A maximum of 7 points may come from related sports. (Rally and Obedience are related sports)

One category must have a minimum of a 4 point title earned

Three categories must have a 5 point title earned

9.

 

At least 1 point must be earned from one of the following categories; Agility (A.), Barnhunt (B.), Dock Diving (E.), Flyball (F.), Nosework (G.) OR Tracking (J.)

At least 3 points must be earned from one of the following categories; Agility (A.), Barnhunt (B.), Dock Diving (E.), Flyball (F.), Nosework (G.) OR Tracking (J.)

The same achievements applied to earn the AV can be applied to earn the AVX.  The AV/AVX or CAV/CAVX can be applied for at the same time

The same achievements applied to earn the AV/AVX can be applied to earn the AVXX.  The AV/AVX/AVXX or CAV/CAVX/CAVXX can be applied for at the same time

The AWC Board of Directors voted in January 2019 to remove the requirement that the Award of Versatility be applied for within one year of the dog's death; excluding dogs deceased prior to 1997.
