SCHEDULE OF POINTS FOR DIVISION 1 — EFFECTIVE MAY 15, 1986 Division 1 is comprised of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, District of Columbia, Virginia and Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin
The Points towards a Championship shall be awarded to the Winners Dog and Bitch of each breed or variety based on the actual number of dogs or bitches competing in that breed or variety
If the dog designated Winners Dog or Winners Bitch is also awarded Best of Breed or Variety, the dogs of both sexes that have been entered for Best of Breed or Variety competition and that have been defeated in such competition shall be counted in addition to the dogs that competed in the regular classes for its sex in calculating championship points. If the dog designated Winners Dog or Winners Bitch is also awarded Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed or Variety, the dogs of its own sex that have been entered for Best of Breed or Variety competition that have been defeated in competition for Best of Opposite Sex, shall be count ed in addition to the dogs that competed in the regular classes for its sex in calculating championship points.
After points have been computed for Winners Dog and Winners Bitch subject to the above stipulations, the dog awarded the Best of Winners shall be credited with the number of points calculated for Winners Dog or Winners Bitch, whichever is greater.
In counting the number of eligible dogs in competition, a dog that is disqualified, or that is dismissed, excused or ordered from the ring by the judge, or from which all awards are withheld shall not be included. Any dog which shall have won fifteen points shall become a Champion of Record, if six or more of said points shall have been won at two shows with a rating of three or more championship points each and under two different judges, and some one or more of the balance of said points shall have been won under some other judge or judges than the two judges referred to above.

Louis owned Whippets since 1930 and competed in the breeding, showing and racing of this versatile breed for over 50 years. His contributions to the Whippet as historian, writer, commentator, and official of the American Whippet Club are unequaled. Louis Pegram's lifetime contributions to the Whippet have been an inspiration to new and old fanciers alike.

Black brindle with very little white, "Charles " is no glamour boy — a sound, correct, hard and workmanlike dog with none of the frills but a wonderful pedigree and a terrific temperament. Already the winner of 5 points and a Breed from the classes, he will be shown today and at very few other shows around the country in order to give serious breeders a chance to see him. His sire has consistently produced top winner all over the world and is a full brother to Sporting Fields' top sire Ch. Charmoll Clansman. His dam is unshown due to a broken toe but sister to several winners, half sister to Ch. Hardknott Maestro of Bohem through her sire and to Crufts winner Ch. Houghtonhill Starry Night of Chatwig on the other.

Imported from England as a puppy in 1982 and co-owned with Whippoorwill, Maestro is a Group winner with some 20 Breeds (including AWC supported show) as has won the Stud Dog class at three different AWC specialties with some of his 16 champion children from only a handful of litters - several more are pointed and close to finishing.
"Max ' is seen above with his baby daughter Ch. Whippoorwill Bohem Aria, now firmly established as one of the best bitches in the country although seldom shown; among her wins was BOB of the largest-ever AWC supported show, with her sire going BOS; she was also BOS at the AWC Western Specialty in 1985 and has half a dozen Breeds. Several of her big litter by Ch. Proud Fox of Whippoorwill are being shown in the Puppy classes today.
