Rick L. Garvin

I started training and showing dogs in the late 1970’s with my first Golden Retriever. Brett went on to finish his OTCH and was a wonderful companion in our household. From the time I first stepped in the obedience ring I was hooked on this wonderful sport. Since that time I have put numerous obedience titles on dogs ranging from the CD to the UD. Currently I am training and exhibiting my Border Collie in Open and Utility. We began the long and elusive journey for Chat’s UDX in 2006 and hope to finish this title in 2007. I also have a Golden puppy that is in training for Novice and I hope to show him in the very near future. I have been a member of the Manhattan Kansas Kennel Club since 1976 and also have been privileged to join the GRCA, KCGRC, and the BCSA. I am approved by the AKC to judge the Novice and Open obedience classes, all AKC Rally classes, and all AKC Non Regular obedience classes. I have thoroughly enjoyed my many years of training and showing dogs along with the many friendships that have been made throughout the years.

I hope every exhibitor at the 2007 Whippet National Specialty receives a qualifying score and may your every dog wish come true! It truly is an honor to be asked to judge at the AWC National and I would like to take this opportunity to thank the judge’s selection committee for inviting me to be a member of this judging panel. I am sure it will be an exciting and fun filled week for everyone attending this event.

Good luck to everyone!

Keith Harold

Thank you for selecting me to be your Agility Judge at your 2007 AWC National Specialty.

I first started showing and owning dogs as a teenager in the Kansas City Area. That was a very long time ago. My original breed was Basenji, but since 1988, my breed has been Border Terrier. I have been led by my dogs to enjoy success in both performance and conformation. I have been exhibiting in agility since 1990 and have been judging since 1999.

I am excited about designing courses that will highlight and challenge your whippets. I hope you enjoy the courses and your time in the area.

All my best!

Jodi Ellison

During my childhood and teen years, I was an avid horsewoman competing throughout the Midwest with my Quarter Horses and Appaloosas. My family always had a myriad of dogs around the farm, mostly Collies, German Shepherds and strays that would wander on to our property, of course we took them all in! When I was six years old, my best friend's mother bred a litter of whippets, and I was in love! I knew someday I was destined to have at least one. In 1990, my dream came true with my first whippet Windy, (Halmarque Day After Day, FCH). Then I decided one was not enough and wanted a second whippet and Sheena, (MBIF CH. Dashing The Lioness, LCM, ROMX) came into my life. Sheena is the foundation of Windsheen and behind every dog in my house. In the first two litters that I bred, Sheena was awarded her ROMX. Her progeny include multiple AKC Bench Champions, a Specialty winner, Multiple Specialty Selects, ASFA FCh's and LCM's, CWA ARX and DPCX titled dogs and also a few obedience and agility titles. Sheena's grandchildren are also enjoying the same success with a #1 Flyball Whippet, 2004 and 2006 and a Specialty Winners Bitch. Sheena still rules the roost here at 15 years old.

During the past 17 years I have been involved primarily in Showing, Racing and Lure Coursing. I am an AWC member and a past President of the Minnesota Coursing Association. One of the experiences I have enjoyed the most are my Sweepstakes assignments which include a Specialty and AWC Supported Entries.

In my professional life, I am an NASD Registered Equities Trader, specializing in Executive Stock Options for a major Investment firm. As a breeder and promoter of the multipurpose whippet, I am honored to have been chosen by my peers to judge the conformation portion of the 2007 AWC Triathlon
