AMERICAN WHIPPET CLUB, INC., FUTURITY CONDITIONS
- The Futurity will be sponsored by the AWC and is exclusively for the competition of puppies and juniors between 6 months and 18 months of age.
- The Futurity is open to all breeders of purebred AKC registered Whippets in good standing with the American Kennel Club.
- Bitches nay be nominated at any time between the BREEDING and WHELPING dates. Only puppies whelped by nominated bitches AFTER the date of nomination are eligible. The date of the Post Office cancellation stamp on the envelope will determine the date of nomination. A fee of $10.00 shall accompany the nomination of each bitch.
- After the bitch is nominated, the LITTER must be nominated on a litter nomination sheet and the fee is $15.00. The LITTER must be nominated before it's 3 months old. The Post Office cancellation stamp on the envelope will determine that this nomination has been made prior to the date the litter reaches 3 months of age.
- After the litter has been nominated and has reached 3 months of age, individual puppies may be nominated. The nomination fee for individuals is $10.00. There is no limit as to how many puppies from a litter may be nominated. individual puppies may be nominated anytime after the litter is 3 months old and until the closing date of the Futurity. One dollar of each entry will be donated to the A.W.C. National Rescue effort.
- FUTURITY CLASSES will be divided according to age and sex as follows:

Puppy Dogs, 6 - 8 months Puppy Bitches, 6 - 8 months Puppy Dogs, 8 - 10 months Puppy Bitches, 8 - 10 months Puppy Dogs, 10 - 12 months Puppy Bitches, 10 - 12 months Puppy Dogs, 12 - 14 months Puppy Bitches, 12 - 14 months Junior Dogs, 14 to 18 months Junior Bitches, 14 - 18 months
The winners of each class will compete for Best in Futurity
- In the event that a change must be made in the show date, then the original date shall be the one used in determine eligibility of nominees. Should the show date be set after the original date, then the age limit shall be increased to take care of the differences in time from the original date to the revised date and the nominees affected shall still be eligible for competition in the Junior Class.
- Nominations of bitches, litters, and individual puppies must be accompanied by checks or money orders made payable to the AWC , Inc.
- Entry Fees will be retained in the event a nominated bitch or puppy is found to be ineligible under the above conditions.
- The Futurity Judge will be chosen by the Futurity committee.
- If the breeder of the class winners and the Best in Futurity winner is not present, the money won will be mailed directly to the breeder.
- At least 35% of the entry fees will be retained by the Futurity committee for expenses. The remaining entry fees will be divided between the breeders of the class winners and the breeder of the Best in Futurity.
After retaining 35% for Futurity expenses, 35% of the remaining money will be paid to the breeder of the Best in Futurity. The remaining 65% of the entry fees for each class to be divided as follows:

Prize money to be awarded to breeders only. If the exhibitor of a winning dog is not the breeder and the breeder is not present, a check will be mailed to the breeder.
All dogs for the 1993 Futurity must have been whelped on or before January 8, 1993 . Bitches must be nominated while in whelp. Litter must be nominated before 3 months old and individuals may be nominated anytime after 3 months old and the closing of the Futurity.
MATURITY CLASSES
All Dogs who were entered in the 1992 Futurity, whether shown or not, are eligible (dogs listed in the 1992 Futurity Catalog). The dogs will be divided by sex only. Judging will be done right after Best in Futurity. All dogs will be judged and then all bitches will be judged.
The winner of the dog class and the winner of the bitch class then will compete for Best in Maturity. The owner of the Best in Maturity will receive the prize money.
Entry must be made on and AKC entry form with the Dog Show Class listed as "Maturity". The entry fee is $10.00 per entry. Entries will close for the Maturity Class on April 7, 1993 .
Please Note: In order to have 1993 Futurity Puppies eligible for 1994 Maturity, there is a $10.00 litter eligibility fee due by June 1, 1993 .

HARRIETT LEE
I have been active in the Sport of Purebred Dogs since 1972, starting in the Obedience Ring. At that time, I was showing Pembroke Welsh Corgis. Having been "bitten by the dog show bug", I spent more than two year's researching breeds. I finally settled on the Whippet after seeing the breed run! In 1979, I purchased my first Whippet show puppy. This cherished companion, BIS CH. Whippoorwill Tanzanite, provided the family with the ultimate thrill in July, 1988 when he went Best In Show, owner-handled at nine and one-half years young!
Interested in all aspects of the Versatile Whippet, I plan to resume lure coursing and obedience this year with AM CAN CH Antares TJ Winsmith, JC.
I joined the AWC in 1981 and have become progressively active. I served as Futurity Chairman for three years and am currently East Regional Show Chairman and AWC Secretary.
To support my "doggy habit", I work as a Registered Nurse in the Operating Room of the University of Virginia Medical Center. I live with my husband, Ken, and have three married children and three grandchildren.
I am very honored to judge the 1993 Futurity and am excited about the privilege of seeing the future of the breed "up close and personal .
