2005 was another great year for the GCWC, with members involved in all aspects of whippet ownership. The club remains a strong presence in straight racing, with four WRA/LGRA meets at the old Eyleland Kennel site, as well as assisting the Southeastern Wisconsin Basenji Club with their inaugural WRA and LGRA race meets in November. Our annual Independent Specialty featured Mr. Anthony "Bud" Gutilla as the breed judge and Mrs. Crystal McNulty as the Sweeps judge, drawing another fine entry in conjunction with the Lake Shore Kennel Club. Additional activities included the annual summer picnic and December brunch, which have become tradition for club members. In February, the entire club brought their whippet contingent to a local nursing home and spent several hours entertaining residents and providing canine companionship and love for those in need.
We salute the following club members' dogs on achieving titles during 2005: 2006/2007 Club Officers: Board of Directors: Kathy Janoski, Nancy Fagin
(NSBIS, MSBIS Ch. Elysian A-Few Perrier, LCM, ROMX x Ch. DBL J’s Divine Providence, ROM) Wyatt enjoyed his year of semi-retirement winning the Junior Veteran class at the National, as well as Best of Opposite at the AWC South Central Regional. He also took time out for fatherhood, with two new litters. Thanks to Ellen Adler (Alouette) and Jodi Ellison (Windsheen) for selecting Wyatt to use in their breeding programs.
2005 was a great year to be a Veteran!
