2004 American Whippet Club Whippet Annual
Pages 76 through 100
Back issues of the AWC Whippet News Annual can be purchased for $25.00 each ($30.00 foreign), which includes shipping; all funds must be U.S. dollars, payable by check or money order to Whippet Annual. Mail to: Wendy Clark, WNAnnual Editor, 5088 Breckenhurst Dr., Hilliard, OH 43026 USA.

Cicely whelped 5 beautiful pups on May 10, 2004. When they were 6 1/2 weeks old, she went to Duluth to raise 3 Ibizan pups that had lost their mom when they were 10 hours old. She loved and cared for them as if they were her own. They are happy, healthy pups today.
When the Beezers were 4 1/2 weeks old, she came home and went into training to regain her svelte body and start lure coursing again. At her first trial on October 9, 2004, she did not have any competition in the Veterans stake, so ran off against the Field Champion stake winner for BOB to gain points and a placement. The Field Champ winner happened to be the father of her pups. The judges saw fit to tie them 2 times before Cicely finally pulled off the Best of Breed by one point on the third run!
The next day Cicely had competition and took a first place in the Veteran’s stake. She is half way to her Veteran Field Champion after only 2 trials and 2 litters of puppies!
Thank you Phoebe for this elegant athlete with an impeccable temperament that loves babies!!!!!!

In Loving Memory...

Natl. Sel. Champion Sporting Field’s Viva
Losing you was almost unbearable. We should have had so many more years to be with each other. A piece of me died with you. I never thought I could be so fragile, I still can‘t even think of you without tears and an aching feeling inside. I hope I never am so heartless as to ask someone “What made her so special?” The answer is that her external beauty was only a shadow of her inner beauty and love and devotion she showed me. Viva, I would do anything to have you back. I truly believe the saying “Only the good die young.” I can only hope our souls are together again someday.

The GCWC enjoyed a prosperous year with members involved in showing, racing, coursing and obedience. We hosted four WRA meets at the old Eyleland Kennel site in Antioch, Il and held a superb November specialty in conjunction with the Lake Shore Kennel Club, judged by Dr. John Shelton. We had our annual summer picnic at one of the member’s new farm, with an AKC specialty “B” match and race practice. Our annual December brunch rounded ou the year, with great plans for 2005.
We salute the following club members dogs on achieving titles during 2004:
