Un-fortunately, the year brought great sadness as well, with the loss of our beloved Nanny. We are looking forward to 2002, with Lucia and her littermates making their debuts.

Looking to the Future

Grovenor’s On Target (Target), with her kids
Grovenor’s On The Mark and Grovenor’s Mark O’Wildfire (Markki and Morgan).
Target and the Targettes, like their great-ancestors, along with the rest of the Grovenor whippets, embody everything a whippet should be. As of 12/31/2001, Target needs just a single point to finish and, in limited showing, Morgan has his first points from the BBE class. Markki recently earned her ASFA certification and is lure coursing competitively. Target and Markki are co-owned with breeder-judge Lorraine Gyenge. Morgan is co-owned with Lori Nelson, Wildfire Whippets. The third Targette is Maggie, Grovenor’s On The Spot. Maggie is co-owned with Nicole and Bonnie Best of Gilbert, AZ. The Targettes were sired by Trader, Ch. Wildfire’s Tradewinds.

The year 2001 was certainly one we can never forget. There are too many people to thank, but Dr. John Shelton gave us the honor of Best of Breed at the Midwest Specialty, entry 246 whippets. This was a thrill of a lifetime, which will never be surpassed. Gleason was the winner of many Groups and a wonderful Best In Show this year. He won AWC Supported events and some of the largest shows on the East Coast, among the toughest competition on Breed and Group levels. We are especially proud of his wins under the breeder-judges – that is the icing on the cake! He has been bred to some wonderful bitches and has some beautiful puppies, which we are extremely proud of. Gleason is just 2 years old and has already accomplished dreams that any breeder could only hope for in a lifetime. Above all, we can never express how amazing his temperament is – there truly is no sweeter dog on this planet!! That’s our “Gleason Boy” and we love HIM!!!!

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the fellow breeders who have recognized “Hogan’s”
qualities, both as a correct example of the breed and also as a serious sire. We are extremely proud, not only of Hogan’s accomplishments, but also of the accomplishments of his children.
At just three years of age, Hogan is the sire of Best In Show winners, multiple Hound Group winners, specialty major winners and dogs that are nationally ranked in breed and all-breed systems.
