“ Demi Tasse “
Dual Champion Grand Prix’s Demi Tasse
(Ch. Hamrya’s Honey Beee x DC Milescross Double Indemnity, CD)
Our beautiful Demi Tasse will follow in her mother, Demi’s, footsteps here at Grand Prix. She earned both her titles easily by the age of 2 and loves her racing as a sideline! Her next job is to earn her obedience degrees. Hopefully she will continue as Grand Dame to breed on her beauty and reward our hopes.

A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
Isn’t this a marvelous book? It contains over four hundred pages and much archival information concerning winning Whippets at our past AWC Specialties.
An invaluable resource. Thanks, Wendy.
This is my last year as President of the American Whippet Club. Looking back over the months is much like looking down a banquet table heaped with the fruits of a bountiful harvest; a harvest of Whippets, Whippet events, Whippet folk and, bright in my memory, Whippet places, from the Atlantic to the Pacific.
The National and the Regionals were credits to their Chairs and workers. Entries are growing in the many different venues available to the Breed and this makes me especially happy as I feel that excellence in diversity offers the strongest protection against fads and encouragement toward producing the “Complete Whippet”.
Because of the many new, hard working members the Club can look forward to a vital future, further supported by the now independent Whippet Rescue and the Whippet Health Foundation. Involvement is key. No matter where your interest lies, you can be very sure there’s something for you to do there and someone to do it with you.
I wish you all joy and accomplishment with your wonderful hounds.
I’ll be seeing you,

Wildfire Remembers A Friend…
Years ago, ringside, I was captivated by a magnificent dog, Ch. Kindochaline’s Tartan. Hence, I met Earl and Frank McInnis. They were patient with my ceaseless questions and Tartan became a bridge to a lasting friendship.
Earl shared his knowledge and opinions with a sense of humor and dedication to the breed. He was a ringside fixture at Lompoc and the National, enjoying and evaluating the dogs. Always surrounded by a circle of friends and the topic was usually whippets! Earl was the ultimate gentleman, exhibiting a style and grace uniquely his own. Earl’s life was long and full and although I miss him, he leaves behind a sense of wealth for having been privileged
to call Earl McInnis my friend.
Earl’s legacy is reflected in many prominent pedigrees, and remains an influence at Wildfire.
Pictured are Tartan’s sons, affectionately known as “The Boys”, whose lineage successfully
continues in the ring and the field.

Kindochaline’s Dark Secret
11/15/86 – 6/25/01
(Ch. Kindochaline’s Tartan x Ch. Kindochaline’s Calle)
Secret was to be Earl’s puppy - she was vivacious, bright and enchanting from the moment she was born. Heartbroken over having lost a beloved dog, I was charmed by this perky, smart puppy. Although we had never met, Earl knew I found joy in his puppy and gave her to me! It was Secret, Earl’s gift, that brought us together and we shared a treasured friendship. Secret left this world only days before Earl, perhaps she is again his puppy.
Earl loved life, fine things, good company, good dogs, and it was a privilege to share his friendship. Life just won’t be the same without Earl and Secret. Thank you Earl, for your many Gifts.

How Our Legacy Began . . .
I would like to present some of my past dogs, who made it all possible.
Ch. Shamasan’s Bugs Bunny
(Ch. Stoney Meadows North Star x Ch. Westgates The Enchantress) Bred and Co-owned by Phoebe Jordan Booth
Without this dog, I certainly would not have succeeded in whippets. A personal thanks to Phoebe Booth, who bred, co-owned and co-handled him to his most prestigious wins. My thanks to her over the years, as she taught me how to appreciate the whippet. And how to handle these marvelous dogs.
Ch. Morshor’s Cross The Water, ROM
(Ch. Plumcreek Walk On Water, ROMX x Ch. Morshor’s Royal Bid, ROMX)
This picture is from the Stud Dog class at the 1986 AWC Midwest Specialty, after “Linda” won the Breed under John Shelton.
Ch. Plumcreek Walk On Water, handled by his breeder/owner Linda Larson; Ch. Appraxin’s Majic Jethro, handled by his breeder/owner Calvin Perry; and “Linda”, Ch Morshor’s Cross The Water ROM, owned/handled by myself and bred by Dianne Bleecker.
What can I say about my Linda. She was the beginning of a very successful breeding program and, combined with Plumcreek, it was just what I was looking for . . . and she made me shine as a handler.
