Elliott also became one of the founding members of the AWC Versatility program, receiving the title of Award of Versatility at the National Banquet. Thank you Mr. Jack McManus! Am.Can.Ch. Merci Isle Escape to Seafire, SC, FCh. "Aspen" Aspen completed her American championship this summer, capturing another BOB along the way – my first breeder-owner-handled champion! She picked up several more AKC field points, too. Highlights of her show career in Canada include BOW at the 1997 National Whippet Club of Canada National Specialty under Mrs. Margaret Newcombe (Pennyworth) and topping off her final win for her championship by taking BOB over specials and on to a Group 1. Her most outstanding achievement was the litter she produced in February sired by her grandfather. Aspen will be bred again in the spring of 1998. Stay tuned .. . Merci Isle Majestic Seafire, SC, FCh. "Storm" Storm won his first American points this summer with a BOB over specials. In Canada, he was WD at the 1997 National Whippet Club of Canada National Specialty. He will be shown occasionally to judges who might appreciate my 19 3/4 inch little boy. Merci Isle Seize the Moment, SC, FCh. "Harley" Harley finished his ASFA FCh this spring. Seafire Sunburst "Talus" Talus made her show debut on her six-month birthday and won Best in Sweepstakes at the 1997 National Whippet Club of Canada National Specialty. Her American show debut resulted in placements at the AWC 1997 Southern Specialty. Many thanks to my fellow whippet breeders for the compliments you bestowed on Talus. Deep Woods Shadows and Light, JC, FCh. "Summer" Summer completed her ASFA FCh title this fall. In Canada, she's nearly completed her Canadian championship, also taking a Group 1 from the classes. (NSBIS Ch. Merci Isle Meridian. JC x DC Merci Isle I See Dellght, LCM) Griffin has had a wonderful year on the field. He completed his ASFA Field Championship with a second place finish at the National Specialty in Atlanta, and then blasted through '97 amassing 268 points and 3 first placements toward his LCM by November. He also made his racing debut, running in both WRA and NOTRA events. In December, he won a 4-point major in comformation under Dr. Connie Brunkow. He'll continue all of these activities in 1998. Look for him in the obedience ring, too!
(NSBIS Merci Isle Meridian, JC x Merci Isle Blackheart, FCh, SC) Early in 1997, Jinx whelped her first litter of 6 beautiful pups. She then proceeded to rack up points and placements toward her LCM, and also slipped on a muzzle and gave racing a try. In October, she won a 5-point major to complete her AKC Field Championship. The coming year will find her back in the show ring, taking aim at that last major.
(DC Bitterblue's Loco Weed, CD, SC, LCM, ROM, CGC x FC Merci Isle Wink of on Eye, FCh)

Dodger finished his championship at fifteen months old. One of his major wins was at the Whippet Club of Greater Chicago Specialty in June, where he was Winner's Dog and Best of Winners for a 5-point major under Mrs. Barbara Rupert. He is pictured above winning his second major, under judge Barbara Camp.
Summer is pictured above going Best of Breed over specials and Group I under judge Suzanne Morrow Francis at the New Brunswick Kennel Club, but just as thrilling as a show win is watching her run at a field trial. She is wild about lure coursing, finishing her ASFA title in just four weekends of competition. Littermate Merci Isle Celestial Light, FCh, "Halo", is just a major away from finishing her conformation title, and also finished her ASFA title very quickly. * pending ASFA confirmation
(NSBIS Ch. Merci Isle Meridian,JC, ROM x Ch. HH Simbali's Amber Satin, SC) "Bunny" took a few months off from coursing in 1997 to earn her conformation Championship. CERF normal, VonWillebrand neg.

"Atlanta" is 1 placement away from her LCM2. Beautiful, athletic, loving, intelligent. CERF normal, VonWillebrand neg. We miss you Blaide ..
"Raisin" is 1 placement away from her LCM. She placed first in her FCh Stake at the 1996 I.I. She is a fierce competitor in the field and a beloved companion at home. CERF normal, VonWillebrand neg.
In preparing this ad, I thought a lot of these same pictures may be used, but then I thought how lucky we were to have this photographer at our National in Atlanta. "Expression" truly sets our breed apart and that is what she captured! Thank you "Jeanie Lynn"! As always, I am extremely grateful to have been so lucky to own two beautiful whippets who have the "priceless expressions", undoubtedly from their great sire "Luke".
