CH. GRAND PRIX'S CISCO KID, SC
Our beautiful "so" became a proud papa this year. His children are already Best in Match winners and major pointed. He also changed his JC to an SC and now has 2 coursing points toward his AKC F.C. and about 12 points toward his ASFA F.Ch.
GRAND PRIX'S MAESTRO OF LH, JC -2
"Marty" is a real pro when it comes to coursing. He earned his JC, has placed 2nd in two major AKC courses for 4 points toward his AKC F.C. and has amassed 84 points toward his ASFA F.Ch.
CH. MILESCROSS DOUBLE INDEMNITY, SC
What can we say about "Demi" that hasn't already been said, (see her on the cover of Sighthound Review '97 #4, Brood Bitch Issue). She is the mother of an outstanding litter by our "Bo", with Best in Match and major pointed get (at just 6 months of age!). "Demi"also turned her JC in for an SC and has accumulated 2 points toward her AKC F.C. and has 30 points toward her ASFA F.Ch.
GRAND PRIX'S RHYTHMICAL, JC
"Wynona" has not been shown very much and has accumulated 2 points. She and her twin sister "Naomi" won the brace class at the WSCS in Lompoc this last July. "Wynona" earned her JC with style. (Wynona and Naomi are co-owned with Linda Paich.)
"Barney", "Angel" and "Sophie" have officially been retired from competitions in 1997. They've had wonderful, full lives with us and have brought many rewards to the Grand Prix Kennel. Now it is their turn to curl up on the couches and be pampered!

(Ch. Mimbres Gilded Grayling x Am.Can.Ch. Kirwin Undercover Syndicate)
Andrew and Jim have proven all those naysayers wrong. Not only did this dynamic duo finish, they finished in style with two 4 - point majors and another 3 - point major! Andrew also had breed wins from the classes.
His finishing win, pictured above, was from a very large entry during the competitive Niagara Falls circuit. Many thanks to sighthound breeder-judge Nan Bodine for this exciting win.
Andrew is also excelling in lure coursing and is well on his way to both his AKC and ASFA field championships. And if this wasn't enough, Andrew continues to enjoy an active modeling career and he can be seen on billboards, buses and newspapers on the east coast. (Did you know that a dog could run so fast while wearing boxer shorts?)
His latest achievement - and perhaps one of the most gratifying - has been producing his first litter of exquisite puppies in collaboration with our very own Betsy Ross. Watch for two of these kids, Upper Mountain New York Minute (Margaret Mary) and Upper Mountain Black Tie Affair (George), as they begin their ring and field careers in 1998.

(Ringdove Kentfield, RCH,SORC,CC,CM X Kentfield's Danika, RCH2ORC,CC)
Marika needs just one point to complete her oval racing championship and is on her way towards
her race champion title. She debuted in the open field this season with spectacular results.
Like all the Kentfield whippets, Marika is a joy to live with and poetry in motion on the track.

Elektra Fistfull of Dollars Rch, ORE, WRch
Tonka has proven himself to be an all around wonderfull whippet. Whether it be on the track,
in the field, or on the couch. In the time Tonka has been racing he has won more than my heart. In
1997 Tonka has won under NACA, NOTRA, NAWRA, and WRA. Finishing 1997 in the National top
ten for both NAWRA and WRA.

1997 didn't start out too well. In January, Frankie Sue lost her litter of three by Squeaker due to uterine inertia. In April, we experienced the devasting loss of our beautiful Dee Dee (Squeaker's sister), truly our very favorite companion, and closest to our ideal as well. On a walk she was bitten in the throat by a large rattlesnake (displaced by nearby freeway construction), and try as we did, there was no saving her. And there also seems to be no end to our sadness ... We miss you so much, Dee Dee.
Things improved later in the year, Frankie Sue and Squeaker produced a lovely litter of nine strapping pups, and he had some exciting show and race wins. When we lost our young bitch "Pound Cake" after a bad car accident, we were overwhelmed with the kind ness and support of the whippet community. She was returned after a harrowing week in the wilds, nearly dead from hypothermia, and we're happy to report that she is totally fine now and back on the track. We thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts, this experience has made our lives much richer. |

| Many thanks to all his friends who helped campaign him, especially Tim 8 Gina Casperson, Erik & Woody Rider, and Cheryl Smith. We also appreciate hearing about all the nice things people are saying on the internet; we're flattered! Most of all, Squeaker is a gentle and silly dog (and if you've ever heard him on his way to the starting boxes, you know how he got his name!). To know him is to love him. |
