Upon application, AWC will grant the designation "Register of Merit" (ROM, to be used after the dog's registered name) to any Whippet sire, living or deceased, whose offspring have earned a minimum of 15 AKC champion, ARM, CDX and/or LCM titles, and for any Whippet dam whose offsrping have earned at least 7 of these titles. Furthermore, the "Register of Merit - Excellent" (ROMX) can be granted to any Whippet sire whose offspring have earned a minimum of 25 AKC champion, ARM, CDX and/or LCM titles, and for any Whippet dam whose offsrping have earned a minimum of 10 of these titles. The ROM awards are granted by application. The application need not come from the owner of the dog. A certificate of merit will be presented to the owner of a ROM sire or dam during the awards banquet at the annual AWC National Specialty. The certificate will be mailed to those who cannot attend, Duplicate certificates for co-owner can be arranged for but must be requested at the time of application. Please note that one offspring may contribute more than once to a sire's or dam's ROM by qualifying for more than one of the titles listed above, For an application form, please send a self-addressed envelope to Bo Bengtson, P.O. (Ch. INXS Victor x BIF Wolfram Wynmor Bengal Lady, SC, LCM) Shown occasionally while maturing, "Babe" came into the '93 show season with 5 points, including a major. From May 2nd through June 20th, she claimed her remaining points and completed her championship with 3 majors. Two were from breeder judges Mrs. Joan Goldstein and Mrs. Mary Beth Arthur. the third was from Mrs. Martha Dean. We wish to thank them all. "Babe" is pictured with Mrs. Mary Beth Arthur at the Ann Arbor Kennel Club show May 2, 1993. On an added note, at the Midwest Sweepstakes, Friday August 27, 1993, with Bo Bengtson judging, the litter brothers Wynmor Northpointe BCNU and Wynmor Blizzard Britespot were 1st and 2nd respectively in the 5-7 month puppy dog class. "B.C." was WD for a 3 point major from the 9-12 month old class and went on to BOW with Mr. Anthony Gutilla judging at the AWC's supported entry at the Medina Kennel Club's Crown Classic show on December 17, 1993. A record number of fourteen Continental Whippet Alliance (CWA) eyents were conducted in 1993. Events were sponsored by Badgerland Whippet Club, C-U Racing Club, Dairyland Whippet Club, Gopher State Whippet Racing Group and the Fort Hamilton Whippet Association. Conformation judges for 1993 eyents were Doug Arthur, Mary Beth Arthur, Peggy Berg, Kathy Dayenport, Gregg Gammie, Daye Henry, Nancy Henry, Dennis Jameyfield, Diann Jameyfield, Steve Lewinski, Kathy Lukitsch, Sue Prost, Holly Trello and Gail Wegner. Shamasan's Knock on Wood, CD, TRP, DPC The top CWA racer for the third consecutiye year was Marial's Reata Saltwater, TRP, ARX, SRA, DPC, who also became the first Whippet to earn the title of Superior Racing Award by accumulating 75 NARX points. The top conformation Whippet was Ch. Marial's Palmeridge Brandeis, TRP, ARX, DPC, SC, who earned the best overall placement in CWA conformation competition.
