Our first whippets, Savannah's parents, were purchased from Whippoorwill in 1979. How lucky we were to have obtained such a lovely foundation pair! The first Surrey Hill litter was born in 1982 (Stoney x Ch. Baywood's Surrey Hill Heather), followed closely by the litter which contained Ch.'s Savannah, Houston, Silver City, and Charlotte. Since then, we have had many days of great joys and successes, as well as those inevitable tragedies when beloved dogs are lost to us. Both kinds of experiences were richer because of the friendship of some won derful people we met through our whippet activities.

Goodbye Charlotte, Goldie, Stoney, and Tiger - our beautiful friends whose memory lives on in their kinfolk at Surrey Hill.

Thank you Houston, Pops, and especially Savannah - the ageless and undisputed queen mum of our kennel, for continually reminding us to live up to the promise of our early days.

When we paid a social visit to retired breeder, Mrs. Peggy Hodge, I never dreamed I would see the exact sort of male I had been seeking for Savannah's second litter. Big Butch is pictured above at 10 years of age - the last truly inbred Barn Dance/Highlight stud still alive and fertile in 1987. Butch sired four AKC champions, two CKC champions, and seven ASFA F.Ch.'s for Surrey Hill. His get have been strong in silhouette, superior in structure, and keen in the field. Most importantly, they are becoming known as useful producers. His pedigree is unique, and is allowing us to do some very interesting breedings with his children. I am so glad that we found him, and am so sorry that Mrs Hodge lost him recently. If I ever breed half as many beautiful and breed-typical whippets in my line as Mrs. Hodge bred in hers, I will count myself a tremendous success.

The bodacious and loquacious silver brindle with the Mae West chest was retained in hopes of combining her strong, old-fashioned body style and sweet expression (it's misleading) with some of today's elegant and artistic glamour boys. Based on the pictures of some of her kids - do you think our plan worked?!!

From Houston we also had Can.Ch. Surrey Hill's Aye Calypso, who won 8 of her 10 AKC points this year, shown on occasion. Hopefully, she will get those majors next year.

From Coach we also had: AWC Futurity class winner S.H.'s Virtual Reality (whose owners are in grad school, but hope to begin exhibiting her to her title next year); AKC-ptd Surrey Hill Vicarious Thrill, SC, and Surrey Hill's Valkyrie, FCh.

On lease to "de Sud" and Kathy Armato, Katie produced some really exciting baby puppies who have impressive puppy wins (see the de Sud ad, this Annual).

Katie's "attitude" is currently a major source of fun at Surrey Hill, as she enjoys a nice long break from motherhood, and we enjoy a nice long break from her litters of eleven.

Dawn was BOW or RWB every time out this year, but once. She is also pointed towards her AKC F.Ch. title. Our prettiest girl is dreaming of a 1993 litter with the elegant Ch. Patric's Jammin Drarig.		Handsome Harrison won six straight WD's from Open class, but has recently hit some rough spots finding that last major. Hopefully, he will get it soon, so he can sacrifice some more teeth to his favorite activity -Frisbee. Our playful pal who's fun to be with.

Surrey Hill's youngest Champion (8.5 months) thrilled us with a Select Award at the National, handled by co-owner Vicki Marchand. My's first litter out of Ch. Chelsea Prelude to a Kiss contains stunning puppies who are winning majors and BOB's from the puppy class in California.		Tory won two AWC Specialty 12-18 mos classes and multiple BOB's over Top 10 specials during a short class career. Her recent debut as a special with handler Terri Hunt resulted in a Group 2 and 4. My personal favorite from a very deep litter (deep in brisket, deep in quality), Tory lives with My at Beech Hill Kennels.

First AKC Field Champion Whippet & #1 ASFA Whippet: Dual Ch. PARIS SEA WORTHY SIMON, LCM II. Our 1st Best in Show: Ch. PARIS PANTHER.In the fall came the news that Panther, exported to France, won the Hound Group and was RBIS at Vichy, then went BEST IN SHOW the following month. He started a tradition; two of his puppies in France, Happy & Poppy, won Best Puppy in Show awards. Top Single Breeder of Champion Whippets: Sharon Sakson, Paris Whippets. Grand National Field Trial Best of Breed Winner: Ch. Paris Seas The Moment, F.Ch. I was worried when I heard that Simon's sister was in Colorado to compete in the Grand National. It's a grueling long distance competition against top dogs. Then came the word, little Kara brought home the Grand National Best of Breed Title! Five new breed champions:
Ch. PARIS PERSUATION, F.Ch.; Ch. PARIS TELL NO LIES; Ch. PARIS FRANCE MAIA; Ch. PARIS SEAS THE MOMENT; Ch. PARIS GEMINI DESIGN.

Seven Paris Whippets won Group Placements. Three New Field Champions. Eleven Paris Whippets Pointed & Major Pointed. Including Paris Sirius Hunting Time, who went out to Oregon to join Ela Jondrow. P.J. made us proud by winning the breed from the classes, and going Best of Opposite in sweepstakes.
Six new Junior Coursers & Senior Coursers. Three New Canadian Champions. The First Team Ever to Compete at a National Specialty. I got the idea when I noticed how similar four of my girls look. They were confused when I leashed them up together. Then we started practicing, up and down the street, everybody
striding together, cutting neat turns, halting, showing expression. The neighbors thought we were nuts. At the National, Star got stage fright and leaped over Fergie's back. We went out and earned our trophy! That was fun
