At the American Whippet Club 1990 Western Specialty, Ch. Cygnet Watch Me Ms Whitney (left) was awarded Best Brood Bitch wIth 7 month old get by judge Mrs. Doris Wear. To date, four of Ms Whltnels offspring are pointed, one wIth 2 majors, and Watch Me Ms Blond Bombshell (above) has several major reserves from the puppy classes. Two edditlonal puppies are excelling in obedience and agility training and another two will be racing next spring! We are very proud of these youngsters and the wonderful families with whom they live.

AMERICAN WHIPPET CLUB The American Whippet Club initiated the Register of Merit for influential sires and dams in 1988. Upon application, AWC will grant the title “Register of Merit” (ROM, to be used after the dog's registered name) to any Whippet sire, living or deceased, whose offspring have earned a minimum of 15 AKC champion and/or ARM titles, and to any Whippet dam whose offspring have earned a minimum of 5 AKC champion and/or ARM titles. Furthermore, the title “Register of Merit - Excellent” (ROMX) can be granted to any Whippet sire whose offspring have earned a minimum of 25 AKC champion and/or ARM titles, and to any Whippet dam whose offspring have earned a minimum of 10 AKC champion and/or ARM titles. A certificate of merit will be awarded to the owners of sires and dams which qualify for the award and who have applied for it. The presentation will take place during the annual AWC National Specialty celebrations, with the certificate being mailed to those who cannot attend. A list follows of sires and dams which qualified for the Register Of Merit from 1952 to 1990. The fourth annual AWC National Specialty was held at the Hyatt Hotel in Palo Alto , California on April 13 & 14, 1990, with 301 Whippets entered, making 324 entries. Ms. Carol Willumsen (Wilicare) judged all the specialty classes, Mr. Alvin Lee the 25 obedience entries, and Mrs. Audrey Sutton the 7 junior showmanship entries.
