“Macy” and “Becca” continued to melt my heart in 2001. After having to retire from racing at such a young age, Becca has better adapted to traveling with younger Sis, Macy, without getting to chase her beloved “bunny”. At the National Specialty, Macy was shown beautifully by Joe Buchanan in Racing Bitches. In a heart- thumping workoff with another for first place, she was awarded second in an extremely nice class. Wonderful judge, Kent Delaney, advised Joe “close, close, close.” Not to be totally outdone by her Sis, Becca pulled a third in the Altered Open Bitch Class. Macy earned her second 5-point major at an AKC trial, and proceeded on to Best in Field ! Needing 4 singles, she finished the year at a trial, in extremely tough competition that included specials, earning a 4-point major. Though we didn’t make it to many race meets, we did go to the record-breaking entry WRA National in South Carolina. Macy was awarded first in her class in a highly competitive WRA National conformation match under judge Donna Richards, who also pulled her out fourth for honorable mention when awarding Best Adult In Match. Then Macy raced fabulously to earn a trophy for high score “other racing title” best of opposite sex. I’m so proud of my little gal, who also has points in the show ring, as it was quite an accomplishment in that large an entry.

Windsheen1@aol.com Looking Back . . .AWC Specialties 1987-2000
By Bo Bengtson
For the 1987 (and 2000)
AWC Annual I compiled records of all AWC specialties held from the club’s foundation
in 1931 through 1986. In those days we did not maintain records of the specialties, so I had to do a lot of research in the AKC Library. Since then, each Annual has included information about the past year’s AWC specialties, from which the following update for the past 14 years was put together.
Judges listed are the regular class judges who awarded Winners and/or BOB (frequently additional judges had to take over overflow entries and non regular classes; these judges are not included here).
