Most of all, thank you, Megan, for never being less than a perfect Mom.
Pfyre Whippets has discovered "MAGIC"
The “Magic” litter was whelped on January 17, 1996, and I would like to thank the following, who made it all possible: — Connie Alexander, for trusting me with the pick “Stevie” daughter from her first litter (we all know how she feels about “Stevie”)~ for her help and support and for taking such good care of “Brooke”. — Barbara Parsons, for her care of “An” and for “Chip”. The kids congratulate dad on his ROM, and promise to do their best to help with the ROMX. — Barbara Ruth Smith, for her friendship, support, and for always telling it like it is. — Janis Butler (another “Stevie” fan), for her encouragement and for listening to all my sad tales of woe. “Ian”, with a full recovery, may go to Florida to be shown by “grandma Janis”. And, last but not least, my daughter Kaleena, who researched the pedigrees, planned, and made all the arrangements for this litter. (Not bad for a twelve-year-old).
“An” has a spring 1997 date planned with “Trevor”, Ch. Redglen's Sharp Dressed Man.

“Very elegant dog that uses every bit of himself. Not overdone anywhere, very free moving. “Ryan” is proving himself to be a sire consistent in producing his ‘prettiest of heads’. While there is a lot more to him than just another pretty face (such as his beautiful body and vibrant color), certainly his head is truly breath-taking.
MAWA completed a very successful year in conformation and lure coursing events, plus attracting new growth in membership, finishing the year with fifty-seven members. Dr. Jim Gray, MD was acclaimed as a life member, having been one of the founders and continuing active members for the past fifteen years. In addition to holding its 3rd Annual Specialty, the club supported the Whippet entry at the Classic City Kennel Club show in May at the Sighthound Spectacular, which is becoming an annual event in Athens, Ga. Whippets were judged by Mrs. Lynne Schanzle, with forty-five in the breed and eighteen in sweepstakes, judged by MAWA President Randy Tincher. Mrs. Schanzle awarded Best of Breed to Ch. Morshor’s I-lot Shot, co-owned by club members Dr. J. Gray, MD and Glenda Durance. The 3rd Annual MAWA Specialty was held on October 11, 1996, with an entry of 80 in the breed under Dr. Robert Indeglia and 26 in Sweeps under Mr. Douglas Broadfoot. Club members, exhibitors, and spectators enjoyed a complimentary ringside buffet luncheon in appreciation of their support. Again, trophies were plates and platters decorated with another original Whippet drawing by club member M.E. (Robin) Barry. These beautiful limited edition plates are becoming collector’s items. The club supported the Whippet entry of 62 the following day at the Atlanta Kennel Club show under Mr. Robert L. Ligon. Ms Sharon Sakson judged a sweepstakes entry of 22 the same day. MAWA hosted four ASFA field trials and five AKC trials and tests during the year, as well as being a cohost of the largest ASFA International Invitational field trial in ASFA’s history, with an entry of over three hundred hounds each day. Two of the AKC trials were held with the Peach Blossom cluster of shows and, as such, were two of the largest trials in the AKC program. In 1996, the Vernon Dill Challenge Cup, awarded each year for Best in Event at the December Trials, went to the Saluki, Ch. Dadaelis C’ar Haazim, LCM, owned by Madeline Cox of Atlanta, Ga. Our public education program, headed up by Ms. Kathy Shearer, is expanding and receiving attention throughout the Southeast with informational packets going out to new Whippet owners and serving as a contact for breed activities. MAWA is looking forward to another eventful year in ‘97.
Frank and Roxy are to be bred in the spring of 1997.
