1996 American Whippet Club Whippet Annual Pages 301 through 325
Thank you to judges Dr. Asa Mays, Mrs. Carolyn Bowers and David Gibbons
(Multi SBIS Ch. Chelsea Drakkar of Oxford, FCh, ROMX ex Chelsea Persephone) " Troy" exemplifies the virtues we feel are important for a quality whippet. Namely a smooth, deep curvacious body (which includes a tidy tuck-up) and strong, powerful, fluid movement. Not a surprise, considering his heritage. We are pleased our faith in him has been confirmed by well-respected breeders and knowledgable all- rounders alike. Our handsome man is a multiple Group winner and ended the year in the Top Ten rating. We are proud of his accomplishments in an era when the conformation rings are full of beautiful examples of our wonderful breed.
BY CH. MORSHOR'S MAJESTIC PRINCE JC OUT OF MILLRACE MOONLIGHTING CD We had a reasonable amount of success in 1996, given our limited showing and coursing schedule - Harry got a three-point major his first time in Open (first time shown in nearly eighteen months!) and added a point at Kennel Club of Philadelphia. Along the way we discovered he hates the mud as much as his mama. His sister Amy. Millrace Heart of Darkness SC, F.Ch., received a major reserve at one of the few shows we took her to, and finished her ASFA field championship with a Best in Field along the way.

Chess is proof that good things come in small packages. Thank you Jolene Davis for expertly breeding her and also for parting with her. During a dog show I saw her sire in the open dog class and fell in love—Jolene happened to have a litter by him out of the lovely CH. Bo Betts Lemon Meringue FCH CD - the entire litter was gorgeous but I couldn't get Chess out of my mind. Luckily within two weeks she became mine. Unfortunately, her handsome sire Saxon Shore Magic Man will never finish his championship due to his untimely death. My condolences to Jolene. Chess is confirmation pointed and will be lure coursed and bred in the future. MERRITHOUGHT • LAURA BAKER STANTON, 135 EAST 26TH COURT, TULSA, OK 74114 918/584.5544
The perfect dog for me...that's Baroque. Worldly and game, he has been my constant companion for ten years now. Showing, coursing, tracking, agility, and numerous other performances have been squeezed in between my other life activities over the years. Perhaps a more focused owner could have served this dog better...allowing him more titles that he certainly deserves, however I know of very few other dogs that have had more fun and adventure...or given more to the others. And knowing him the way I do, there's more to come in this life. Look for his first litter out in 1997. CERF, OFA, THYROID AND VON WILLINBRAN DS TESTED
Morgan...what can be said of Morgan. She ended my long search for that whippet who could rock my world. She melted my heart. She was my wedding present from my husband, Timothy. She was first spied by me as a puppy in the bred-by class at the 1992 Nationals in Maryland handled by then breeder/owner Patrick J. Pettit. I saw her mother and granddam in the parade of champions also with Patrick. She was from the first litter by her sire, Reign. Little did I know the dream of owning her would become real only a few short months later and then, again, shortly come crashing down. Patrick often said the only thing great that came from all the tragedy regarding Morgan was our friendship. I agreed a thousand times, over the years. Patrick J. Pettit was so many things packaged handsomely, but mostly he was an artist and visionary and the whippet breed has benefitted greatly. BRED BY PATRICK J. PETTIT
Dan came over from England as a baby puppy with his breeder Ivy Potts. Due to Ivy's generous nature, Janet Sullivan and I were able to obtain Dan the Man. Janet and I have had lots of fun over the years with him but Janet gets most of the amusement as he lives with her and his partners in crime, Winnie and Shasta, the whippet girls. Special thanks to Janet for being the best whippet friend always. And thanks to Ivy for a great puppy plus the golden opportunity to show her fabulous Klondyke whippets in their native land, especially the stunning Merlin. Janet and Ivy, your friendship is Best in Show quality. Truly was given to me by her breeder and my whippet guru, Patrick J. Pettit. Although I haven't taken a photo of her that does her justice...I wish Patrick could see her now, all grown up—she's something to be proud of. Her mother, Camillea, produced two litters: the first producing National Specialty Winner SBIS CH. Patric's Personal Agenda, CH. Patric's Just Put A Lid On It, Patric's Bakers Best and from Truly's litter already at least one champion. CH Patric's Take It From Me (Teddy) who is also the mother of my other Patric whippet, Morgan and by one of the greatest producing stud dogs CH Patric's Quotation, who now stands at Pennyworth Kennels. For all the times Patrick said to me "You're not listening!," I hope he knows that I really was and now relying on memory. I pray I can continue the legacy. Truly will he lure coursed after finishing her conformation title. PHOTO CREDIT - BARBARA SMITH
