Allie is shown above with her best buddy, David Samuelson and Judge Ramon McNulty as she finishes her AKC Championship on February 24, 1990. I want to express my appreciation for the help Mary Beth and David have given me. We have now thrown away Allie's show lead and she can spend the rest of her life running around a race track and sleeping under the covers. We will try to finish her Field Championship in 1991. She has 2 second places and 57 points toward that goal. Allie is the second pup of this litter to finish their AKC Championship. She follows Ch. Marial's Palmeridge White Bear and is the second of Nekoosa's pups to finish.

(Ch. Plumcreek Chase Manhattan x Ch. White Acres Tosca)

This lovely Chase son is out of a Chimney Swift daughter. His first points came from the puppy classes under Dr. John Shelton and Dr. Shelton gave us the honor of awarding him his final points with a Best of Breed over specials at 21 months of age. Type-wise, Hobbes is a very smooth and flowing dog with a large, dark eye. His movement exemplifies the effortless, daisy clipping gait correct for the breed, without any tendency towards exaggeration.

Duchess finished her A.R.M. at 5 years 10 1/2 months of age. During her racing career, she consistently placed in the top ten and was one of the top ten females in the nation. Duchess, pictured here on her 12th birthday, still enjoys an occasional race meet and continues to astound us with her box-break ing ability. As the resident puppy trainer in St. Louis, she looks forward to schooling all puppies, including her future grandchildren.

As is evident in the following pages, Duchess' offspring have shown they have inherited her heart, speed, and love of racing.

Duchess is very proud of the litters she has produced with:

Ridgerunner Toast to Toro, A.R.M. - "Augie"

Lyth York, A.R.M., O.R.C. - " York"

From her litter with Augie, 3 of the 4 offspring are Champions and are truly examples of the versatile whippet, having excelled in all activities.

From her litter with York, all 5 offspring are exceptional racers and are a true reflection of both their parents.

Katie is Duchess' first multi-titled offspring. She is the first female from the East Coast to finish her ORC and is also show pointed. Thanks to Meg Glenn, her owner, for a loving home and the chance to excel at so many activities.

RIALCEL'S CASINO SKYLINE, ARM- "Sky"

Sky is Duchess' first ARM titled offspring. She is also ORC and Field Championship pointed. On 6/30/90, Sky showed that she has what it takes to be a champion by finishing 5th out of 50 entrants in J.R.R. NPR at the age of 6 1' 2. Sky will take part of 1991 off from racing to be bred to NPR and NOTRA meet winner, Lyth Thorpe of Chaparral, ARM, ORC.

RIALCEL'S ON THE ROAD AGAIN, F.CH.- "Tanker"

Tanker finished his Field Championship in 3 trials with a record of 2 firsts and 1 second, and taking the Best of Breed at one of these trials. He is also ARM and ORC pointed and will begin to look to the obedience ring in late 1991.

We are proud as can be of our first ARM winner, from our first litter. Highway is a handsome 21 12" black brindle male, who is very aggressive for the lure, yet sweet and mild in temperament. A Grade 'A' racer, he placed second twice this year and has just started his NOTRA career, placing fifth FTE in a meet featuring four of the top ten nationally ranked racers.

Highway wishes to congratulate his sisters on their accomplishments ...

Shoreline's Going Mobile - 10 ARM points

Shoreline's Smoke on Water - ASFA pointed, top ten JRRWA Versatility Weekend, 1st place Novice Bitch Class

Stymie's Crystal Dragon, FCh. - 6.8 ORC points. Owned by Bob & Judi McCoy of Lexington, KY Shoreline's Foxey Lady - ASFA pointed, 1 ORC point

Racing was a lot of fun for us this past year and especially so when you can earn a few racing titles along the way. We were fortunate enough to have three dogs earn titles this year, each in a different field of racing. QUEENIES MISTER CONTENDER, ARM finished his ORC this past year making him Missouri's first to achieve both ARM and ORC titles, along with maintaining himself as an "A" dog on both tracks. He is our first dog to earn either race title and we've been very proud of his accomplish ments. RIALCEL'S QUEEN OF YORK finally showed us what we always knew she had in her and did finish her ARM title at the last meet of the year. A special thanks to Pam LeClair and Sue Weilbacher for their help with " Tracy". And Tracy wishes to congratulate her sister "Wiggle", Rialcel's Duchess of York, on completing her ARM title earlier this year. We also have an older dog who we re-introduced to lure coursing, RIDGE RUNNER'S SHO N'UFF, who earned his FCH in the spring of this year. There's one other person we'd like to mention. Over the past two years, two dogs have come our way via California , "Rosie" in the spring of '89, and more recently "Zorro" late in the fall of '90. Both have been a joy and are loved very much. Thank you, Kim!!! In closing, it's been a fun year and we'll be looking forward to seeing everyone out there at it again next year.

In 1990, from January to December, our very active group, The Western Washington Whippet Association, held two Sanction B-OB Matches with Sweeps, supported one A.K.C. all- breed dog show in conjunction with the A.W.C., held two double-day weekends of NAWRA/NOTRA racing, three double-day lure coursing weekends (one weekend of Whippets only and two weekends of all-breed coursing), set up an educational table with information on Whippets and general pet care at two major shows, displayed our dogs with a Whippet Walk at the Seattle Center, had an active newsletter, initiated several major educational projects for the benefit of new and old club members, held handling classes and weekly straight racing practice, raffled a handmade quilted wall hanging with blocks designed and made by club members featuring renditions of Whippets at various activities, exhibited actively at A.K.C. and C.K.C. shows, trained and showed in obedience, attended straight races, NOTRAS and lure coursing events held by other clubs in the area. We rest in December with a Christmas party for people and a special party for the dogs where they can socialize and have their pictures taken with Santa.

Western Washington State, a part of the Pacific Northwest, is nestled between two mountain ranges, bordered by Puget Sound and the Pacific Ocean and surrounded by beautiful rivers. We invite you to subscribe to our newsletter, Whippet Tales, attend some of our events and vacation with us. During 1990 our match entries always exceeded 35, and the last one, judged by Dr. Barbara Henderson, topped at 60 dogs. Our straight race and NOTRA attendance never fell below 32 and our lure coursing entries were as high as 65, with frequent double stakes in Whippets. Our racing events attract top Whippets from the West Coast and Canada. So come out and challenge us!! WE ARE HIGH ON HOSPITALITY!!

WISTWIND'S ELITE

(Eli x Ch. Wistwind's Dazzle, LCM, Can.FCh.) 2-19-90

At 9 weeks of age, Elite went of her first field trial and went "Best Puppy" in Coastal Coursers Puppy Run V. At 6 1/2 months she went of her first show ... Elite was Best-in-Sweeps at the American Whippet Club Midwest Specialty Sweeps under Phoebe Booth. Currently she has a major (WB, BOW) under Margaret Renihan, a major reserve under Doris Wear and 2 points (WB, BOW) under Marcia Tucker, with very limited showing.

We look forward to more shows in 1991 and especially a promising coursing career for this youngster.

Kiwi was WB at Agathon for 5 points under Eugene Jacobs in August 1990.

Four days of coursing in Canada resulted in 2 BOB, 1 Best-in-Field and a 1 Placement to complete her Can.FCh.

At her last trial of 1990, she took BOB over 19 in PA.

Kiwi will have fun working on her LCM title in 1991 and completing her breed championship (she needs 1 major).

"Zoey" was the first of our splendid litter sired by Ch. Delacreme De La Renta, ROMX out of our Am.Can.Ch. Affinity Never Say Never, F.Ch. to earn her title. "Zoey" was 13 months old when she won her final major - her first weekend in the "grown-up" BBE class - the day following the 1990 AWC National Specialty.

  • Brother "Zeke" (Ch. Runamok Never Say Die) finished the following month (also from BBE). "Zeke" has 9 Canadian points and is ASFA pointed. His picture and pedigree appear in the Pedigree Section.
  • Sister "Diva" (Can.Ch. Runamok Never Grow Up), owned, handled, and spoiled by Don and Pat Fitzsimmons, Nepean, Ontario, completed her Canadian title in June.
  • Brother "Bullseye" (Runamok Nevertheless, F.Ch.) and sister "Leonore" (Runomok Nevermore, F.Ch.) completed their field titles in September with multiple BOB's and BIF between them. "Bullseye" and "Leonore" are owned by Jim and Maureen Kehborn and co-owned with Runamok.

Our plans for 1991 include a repeat of this breeding in the spring and a fall trip for "Zoey" to her grandsire, Ch. Saxon Shores Amber Waves, ROMX.
